Meet Mr James
My name is Brad James, and I am the Founder and Principal Mathematics Tutor at Mr James Maths Tuition.
With over twelve years of experience teaching Mathematics in secondary schools, I am passionate about helping students build confidence, develop their mathematical understanding and achieve their full potential. I am also a proud member of The Tutors’ Association and the Institute of Directors, reflecting my commitment to professionalism and high educational standards.
I graduated from the University of Northampton with a BSc (Hons) in Computing with Education (2:1). During my studies, I travelled to Uganda in 2013, where I helped build a playground and supported the education of local children, further inspiring my passion for teaching.
After returning to my hometown of Boston, Lincolnshire, I began teaching Mathematics at a large secondary school in King’s Lynn, Norfolk. During this time, I completed the Teacher Subject Specialism Training (TSST) in Mathematics, in partnership with the Cambridge Maths Hub, further strengthening my subject knowledge and teaching expertise.
In 2017, I established Mr James Maths Tuition, providing high-quality, personalised tuition to students of all abilities. Although I no longer teach full-time, I continue to work in secondary schools on a supply basis, ensuring my knowledge remains current and aligned with the latest curriculum and examination requirements.
I am also proud to be an Apple Teacher and Teachmate Certified Educator, demonstrating my commitment to professional development and the effective, responsible use of digital technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. These skills allow me to explore innovative teaching approaches and create engaging, personalised learning resources that support student progress.
Alongside Primary and Secondary Mathematics, I specialise in 11+ preparation, GCSE Mathematics and Functional Skills Mathematics, tailoring my teaching to each student's individual needs and goals.
For parents' peace of mind, I hold an Enhanced DBS Check, Level 3 Safeguarding Children Certificate and Designated Safeguarding Lead Certificate. I am also registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), demonstrating my commitment to responsible data protection practices.
