Meet Mr James
My name is Brad James, and I am a qualified Mathematics tutor with over twelve years’ experience teaching Mathematics in secondary school settings. I am a member of The Tutors’ Association and the Institute of Directors, reflecting my commitment to high professional standards and best practice.
I began my education career in Northampton, where I graduated from the University of Northampton with a BSc (Hons) in Computing with Education (2:1). During my time at university, I had the opportunity in 2013 to travel to Uganda, where I helped to build a playground and support the education of local children—an experience that further developed my passion for teaching and learning.
After returning to my hometown of Boston, Lincolnshire, I went on to teach Mathematics within a large secondary school in King’s Lynn, Norfolk. During this time, I completed the Teacher Subject Specialism Training (TSST) in Mathematics in partnership with the Cambridge Maths Hub, strengthening my subject knowledge and instructional approach.
I have continued to teach Mathematics ever since, both within schools and through tuition, which led me to establish Mr James Maths Tuition in 2017. Since then, the business has grown steadily, supporting students across a wide range of abilities to build confidence and achieve real progress.
Although I no longer work in a full‑time classroom role, I continue to work in secondary schools on a supply basis, ensuring my subject knowledge remains current and closely aligned with the national curriculum and examination requirements. I strongly believe that the experience I have gained over the past decade enables me to provide high‑quality, effective, and personalised tuition.
In addition to Primary and Secondary Mathematics, I am also a specialist in 11+ preparation and Functional Skills Mathematics.
For reassurance and peace of mind, I hold an Enhanced DBS, a Level 3 Safeguarding Children Certificate, and I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), ensuring compliance with UK data protection regulations.
